Chiku, also known as sapodilla, is a delicious tropical fruit with a rough brown skin and soft, grainy flesh. Rich in natural sugars, its taste is often described as a blend of pear and brown sugar with a hint of caramel. Packed with dietary fiber, vitamins C and A, and antioxidants, chiku is not only tasty but also supports digestion, boosts immunity, and promotes skin health. Enjoy it fresh, in smoothies, or as a natural sweetener in desserts.
Tomatoes are vibrant, juicy fruits known for their rich flavor and versatility in the kitchen. Whether eaten raw, cooked, or blended into sauces, tomatoes add a burst of tangy sweetness to any dish. They are an excellent source of vitamin C, potassium, folate, and lycopene – a powerful antioxidant that supports heart health and reduces inflammation. Perfect for salads, curries, sandwiches, or homemade sauces, tomatoes are a kitchen essential for every household.
Jackfruit is a large, spiky tropical fruit prized for its sweet, fragrant flesh and incredible versatility. When ripe, it offers a juicy, honey-like flavor with hints of banana and pineapple. Its unripe form is popularly used as a plant-based meat substitute due to its fibrous texture. Rich in dietary fiber, vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants, jackfruit supports digestion, boosts immunity, and provides lasting energy. Whether enjoyed raw, in desserts, or as a savory dish, jackfruit is a delicious and nutritious tropical treasure.
Broccoli is a green vegetable that vaguely resembles a miniature tree. It belongs to the plant species known as Brassica oleracea. It’s closely related to cabbage, Brussels sprouts, kale and cauliflower — all edible plants collectively referred to as cruciferous vegetables.
One of broccoli’s biggest advantages is its nutrient content. It’s loaded with a wide array of vitamins, minerals, fiber and other bioactive compounds.
The courgette is a variety of cucurbit, which means it’s from the same family as cucumber, squash and melon. It’s one of the most popular vegetables in the squash family, being extremely versatile, tender and easy to cook. It’s best not to boil them, as they become mushy and lose their flavour.
Instead lightly fry in butter or oil and a small amount of water. You can also roast them until tender and lightly golden to intensify their favour, or marinate and BBQ or griddle until charred and soft.
Of all the super healthy greens, kale is king. It is definitely one of the healthiest and most nutritious plant foods in existence.
Kale is loaded with all sorts of beneficial compounds, some of which have powerful medicinal properties. Kale contains very little fat, but a large portion of the fat in it is an omega-3 fatty acid called alpha linolenic-acid.
